~*~PLEASE COMMENT!~*~ Railfanning action on 09/10/09!

Train 1: Amtrak P42DC 59 leads the outbound Lincoln Service 303 south through Joliet, IL., on the UP Joliet Subdivision. Amtrak P42DC 49 is pushing at the rear.

Train 2: Amtrak P42DC 91 leads the inbound Texas Eagle 22 north through Wilmington, IL., on the UP Joliet Subdivision. The train is crossing the Kankakee River.

Train 3: UP GP40-2's 1357, 1532 and 1501 lead the North Local south through Wilmington, IL., on the UP Joliet Subdivision, crossing the Kankakee River. I waited two hours for this train and it was worth every minute.

Train 4: BNSF Dash 9's 4062, 5466 and 712 lead a westbound intermodal through Coal City, IL., on the BNSF Chillicothe Subdivision.

Train 5: BNSF ES44DC 7559, BNSF ES44DC 7493, BNSF Dash 9 956 and BNSF Dash 9 4193 lead an eastbound intermodal through Coal City, IL., on the BNSF Chillicothe Subdivision.

Train 6: Another train that I waited a good two hours for and was also worth every minute. Three SD40-2's, BNSF 6732, BNSF 6878 and ATSF 1812 lead the CHI102 local west through Coal City, IL., on the BNSF Chillicothe Subdivision. That sweet EMD roar!

Train 7: CN SD70M-2 8853 and a CN ES44DC lead the M343 north through Joliet, IL., on the CN Leithon Subdivision.

Train 8: EJ&E SD38-2 656 leads the AXS1 north through Joliet, IL., on the CN Leithon Subdivision.

Thank you very much for watching!

  • Cant even explain how much I love this vid lol. Best of the month to me, good job especially my fav Amtrak and those nice k5las, the bnsf/up trains to. Boy do thos BNSF intermodals fly, I love seeing them fly and hearing those loud horns.

  • Thank you very much, Jeffery! I appreciate it very much. Yep, those intermodals sure do haul out in the countryside. 70 is the speed limit, but I've definitely seen trains pushing the limits before.

  • Oh yea that's how it is here, I don't even see them go slow through the city foreal unless they are about to stop but they come all the way through and push it to the limit outside of the city.

  • Yep, as soon as Amtrak trains get outside of the main downtown area, they really haul. They even haul when they're a couple miles from the main part of the city, coming in. Those engines must have really good brakes.

  • so long freight trains! The sound of horn is cool!

  • cool 91 sounds great! hey, looks like my reccomendation helped! told ya combo vids would get you more comments etc ;). keep it up

  • Like those shots over at the bridge

  • Some really nice catches there. The UP GP40-2's would have to be my favorite in that series.

  • your welcome its true

  • amtrak can also slow down quicker cause they're shorter than freights typically

also theyve got to keep as close to on time as possible, so the engineers wait as long as they can before slowing down.

  • Yep here where I record they do 70mph for about close to a mile lenght then take it slower through the busier areas because the people are crazy here and dont believe that trains can kill people. But Amtrak heading south after they leave the city its 80mph

  • Thanks! :)
