-DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS IF YOU ARE NOT TECHNICALLY MINDED.
-DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS IF YOU HAVE EVEN THE SLIGHTEST WORRY AFTER READING THRU THIS GUIDE
-READ THROUGH ALL STEPS BEFORE DOING ANYTHING
-This is how I did it. It may not work for everyone. I take no responsibility for any harm thats done to your phone.
-There are many things that can go wrong during this update procedure. A level of technical knowledge is presumed. If you have problems, check the forums over at Modaco
-I use a seperate SD card reader to put files onto my Streaks MicroSD card. IMO this is the best, easiest, and fastest way to transfer files across
-To move around in the Recovery menus, use the volume buttons to navigate up and down, use the Camera button to select, and use the Power button to go back
-IMO the best way to 'turn the Streak off' is to remove the battery and then put it back in again so you know it's properly off
-I used Win 7 x64 for this
-If you are using a Rebelsim you must download the 1.1.1 Froyo version in Step 3
-THIS WILL RE-WRITE ALL PHONE MEMORY! BACKUP YOUR FILES!
-----------------------------------
SECTION A
Step 1: First we need to get your Streak onto 2.1 Eclair. Download the stock O2 'update-8105-21.pkg' file. Put it in the root of your SD card and rename to Update.pkg
Step 2: Turn the Streak off and put the SD card in. Start the Streak with the Power button and Volume buttons held down till you see the menu. Select option 2: 'Software upgrade via Update.pkg on SD card'. Follow any instructions. The 8105 2.1 Eclair will now install. After its installed, turn off the Streak
Step 3: Download DJ Steves (Stephen Hydes) latest 2.2 Froyo ROM. Put the .zip you download straight onto the root of your SD card
Step 4: Install the Dell PC Suite
Step 5: Download Koush's Clockwork recovery 2.0.5.1 and unzip the contents to a folder on your PC
Step 6: Start the streak with the Power button and Camera button held down till you see until you see the white screen with 'Fastboot' written on it
Step 7: Press the 'Fastboot' button, wait 10 seconds and then connect the USB cable
Step 8: Your PC may ask you to install the drivers, you may have to manually install them:
-Right click on 'My Computer' and click 'Properties'
-Click on 'Device Manager' on the right-hand pane
-Right click on the 'Android 1.0' device in the list
-Click 'Update driver..'
-Click 'Browse my computer'
-Click 'Let me pick..'
-Click 'Have Disk'.
-Tick 'Show all devices'
-Scroll down the list till you find 'Google'
-Select 'Android ABD Composite Interface'
Step 9: Once your Streak reads 'FASTBOOT_MODE', go back to your PC and run the 'install-recovery-windows.bat' file. The streak should now read 'Download RECOVERY Done'. Turn the Streak off
Step 10: (Put the SD card back in the Streak.) Start the streak with the Power button and Volume buttons held down till you see the menu and select option 2: 'Software upgrade via Update.pkg on SD card'. The Streak will now boot into the Clockwork Recovery mod
Step 11:Scroll to the option 'install zip from sdcard' and select
Step 12: Scroll to 'choose zip from sdcard' and select
Step 13: Scroll to the update .zip (whatever it may be called) and select
Step 14: Scroll to 'yes' and select. The 2.2 Froyo will now install
Step 15: Once its finished reboot and you will be in Android 2.2 Froyo! It can take up to 5 minutes on the Dell logo before Froyo opens up
If, after this process, you get stuck on the Dell boot logo follow these steps:
SECTION B
Step 1: Start the Streak with the Power button and Volume buttons held down till you see the menu and select option 2: 'Software upgrade via Update.pkg on SD card'. The Streak will now boot into the Clockwork Recovery mod
Step 2: Scroll to 'partitions menu' and select
Step 3: Scroll to 'format system' and select, then scroll to 'yes' and select. This will format the 'system' partition
Step 4: Do the same for 'format data' and 'format cache'
Step 5: Step 10 above
Step 6: Step 11 above
Step 7: Step 12 above
Step 8: Step 13 above
Step 9: Step 14 above
Step 10: Once Froyo has installed DO NOT boot the device into Froyo. Take the battery out and put it back in again so the Streak is now OFF
Step 11: Start the streak with the Power button and Volume buttons held down till you see the menu and select option 1: 'Factory Reset'. The Streak will perform a factory reset
Step 12: Once its reset, reboot the Streak and you should now be in Froyo
If it still doesn't work repeat SECTION B again. It's been known to take four goes at SECTION B before Froyo boots. Remember to wait 5 maybe 10 minutes on the Dell logo.
If still nothing, then ask in the Modaco forums
