edwardian inspired braided sidebun

Like many costume-drama loving gals out there, I spent some time earlier this year enchanted by the recreation of the Edwardian era in the new miniseries "Downton Abbey" (which aired here in the US on public television a few months ago. It was on Netflix instant stream too--don't know if it is currently though!). The Edwardian era has always been a period I adored; the romantic styles always spoke to me. This hairstyle is inspired by the gracefull looks of that era, but is my modern interpritation. I've been wearing this a lot lately, and it's *super* easy to do in a hurry! Enjoy!

Have you ever heard of 'amish pins'? You might have better results with them. They are steel, and very strong. I have used the 'regular wire hairpins' and the often bend and I use more than I need. Go to plainly dressed DOT com and then accessories

@brunhofer It's unfortunately the quality I had to save the video to upload; at hi-def (nice focus! :p) it was going to take 7 hours for a 6 1/2 minute video! UGH! Which annoys me because the quality of the original video was sooo good. :p

I tried this the other day for a sweltering cookout . It worked great, it did fall out midway through the day because I didn't bring enough bobby pins but, it easily went right back up. Thanks.

i've been fixing my hair like this a LOT lately. it gets really hot and humid here too (north carolina) and it's such a nice alternative to just putting your hair in a pony tail. it's so simple and quick to do, plus i love that you don't have to set your hair in order for it to work.
