Doesn't mean singaporeans speak that way in daily life, she is excused to speak that way on an international stage. She is representing singapore.. what she shows is what they see n take as an image of singapore. She is subject to such negative reactions from the public is becos she doesnt have any qualities, ANY of a beauty queen.If a normal person did it, people wouldn't talk as much but the country's prestige n image was at stake, so they have the right to throw negativity at her.

i mean speaking of those who are unhappy of her being criticized n all.. think abt it, she is an effin beauty queen..no one is forced or pushed into participating in a pageant. Everyone who participates know they have a possibility of winning the crown. And they all should have the qualities that makes them worthy of the crown. It is a MUST, to have a clean record, decent education, good speaking skills and especially, if ur main communication is english, make sure it is GOOD.

in my opinion, good english should be of correct grammar and also pronouncing the words clearly and using the right phonetics. i dont't think we need really strong accents though.
