@inthemiddleofst , You can make it without the starch. i guess the mixture will be a bit on the loose side. the reason for the starch addition is to help the recipe solidify when it is poured into the serving bowls.
Nice video. i have a question. Can I make it without the starch? I want something like this to have at night but with least carbohydrates. I don't think the starch adds anything to the taste, but it's used to improve the mixture, right?
@EmanMorrison , Actually you are mixing up recipes here. the one you are talking about is called حراق اصبعه، that is made with red lentils and dough strips, then you garnish it with fried bread, onions, parsley and sumac. this recipe is eaten by dipping pita bread in it, like Hummus. let me know if you have any other question. So do we serve it like this or with bread? Would it taste nice with little toasted squares of pita or Lebanese bread as a topping along with the onions and coriander ?
