ANCHOR:
Cultural ties between India and Japan witnessed a giant leap forward over the weekend. Tokyo hosted a two-day India festival highlighting the cultures of both nations.

STORY:
Over 100,000 visitors experienced a variety of cultural performances from artists from India and Japan. Japanese artists performed classical Indian dances and contemporary Indian music.

'Namaste India' is part of an effort to build stronger relationships between India and Japan.

The ICF's chairman says the objective of the festival is to showcase India's culture, society and economy and to provide an opportunity for the Japanese to connect with India.

[Vaibhav Kant Upadhyay, ICF Chairman]:
"'Namaste India' is a platform that allows people of India and Japan to interact and understand each other's rich culture. It is ultimately the people-to-people dialogue that fosters confidence in the ability to work together and strengthen bilateral ties.

The ICF has been constantly working towards creating better relations between India and Japan.

[Vaibhav Kant Upadhyay, ICF Chairman]:
"When one person meets another person, or when a national citizen meets another national citizen, there is some sort of a chemical reaction.....We have played the role of a catalyst in initiating that
reaction......You can see one result of the reactions when you look at these thousands of visitors here at 'Namaste India.'"

Kathak and dance performances by Bollywood dancers were the major attractions of the event.

The India Center Foundation is a non-profit organization to strengthen India-Japanese relations by building bridges at the socio-economic level.

  • Japanese are amazing people,,,,,i really respect and like them ...

  • Japan was giving such a toughy birth for India from Europe.

  • they're getting ,taking, but totally forgetting, ignoring about Japan ,japanese cricis. they are just interested in how to have business relationship with Japan. India was giving a tough birth from Japan. sadly, her kid don't even care about her mom includes 311.

  • Oh Japan, please teach us your respect, ethics, discipline. I have alot of respect for the Japanese drive for hard work. Amazing country, amazing people.

  • I lam indian and i live nippon long live indo-nihongo relationship!

  • Japanese and Indians had on and off relationship. But as usual the cultural ties brought both the people back. Indians and Japanese are totally different people in style of living and thinking. After WW-II what struck the balance between the two was the Universal Principles. India and Japan share a relation through Buddhism.

  • please help japan.

Most Japanese people who have common sense are suffering from bias of TV broadcasting.

The most of bias is about praise of Korean culture. They report false facts of the popularity of the Korean Culture in Japan.

One Japanese actor tweeted this fact on twitter, and he was fired from his agent with in 5days because of his tweet.

Please notice this fact and report the unbiased and practical opinions to Japan to spread this reality.

  • @a552bcx Including your pakistani tradition? Pakistan is mainly muslim isn't it? I respect all religions and im not saying anything about muslims in general, but exactly what does any other non-muslim country do that celebrates pakistani tradition?

  • @a552bcx You pakistani people used to fucking BE a part of india. You got kicked out and given your own little piece of land because certain indians felt sorry for you and respected your culture. Now you bomb punjab to get it's land. Shame on YOU.

  • @a552bcx Pakistan is only being bombed because of your stupid terrorists trying to take the more fertile land in punjab, that's common knowledge. It's been going on since pakistan was given their independence from india. Pakistan used to BE a part of india. You were only given your own damn land because of all the protesting that happened. You're being ridiculous.

  • Indians and Japanese here in Canada seem to have this friendly rivalry all the time. I'm indian, and there's this japanese kid i've know for a while and our families are friends, and my dad and his dad always have this "my kid's gonna be smarter thing" and it's hilarious. They're already talking about jobs and universities we have to go to. I think both cultures share a need to make their kids study like there's no tomorrow.

And i just topped his average :)

  • @bottomOFair Oh, so your Japanese? I'm Indian and would love to visit Japan someday! : )

  • Hope more Japanese can like India and Indians! : )

  • @a552bcx if there are any japanese reading this please do not heed the words of this prick. He is spreading hatred and fear, you can see from the comments if anything the majority of the hindus just want peace and a good relationship; a future where our sons and yours can walk together arm on shoulder towards building a better future together.

  • i sooo wish to go to japan, n wishing a very good recovery from the disaster
