@plantraco what temp is your iron set at?

Hey: great video my I ask what solder you use and the temp of your iron I can't seem to tin my 36 gauge enamel coated wire any tips would be helpful
Thanks

I just use a razor blade, and gently strip it.

What are the specs. on this magnet wire? What is the temperature rating and insulation type?
-
This method does not work for 200-240 deg C rated polyimide magnet wire.

Lighter will overheat the wire and temper it making it brittle aswell as imbeding soot and converting a large amount of the copper to oxides, wile doing it with a bead of molten solder will not. Solder will allso act as a protective coating preventing oxidization. Not to mention wire leads need to be pretinned anyways so might aswell do both at once.

Wouldn't using flame will oxidize the copper while removing the insulation? This method should seal while it strips.
thats an excelent tip! thx alot

@DeathWoWAdmins FYI - flame from a lighter will burn up thin wire like this. Our way is much better.
