Instead of the Mary, mother of Jesus icon on the high altar, I'd rather see a Russian icon of a beatified Jesus Christ holding an open book in one hand and signaling a blessing with the other or a Russian icon of a beatified Andorian Christ (like can be seen in the Star Trek wiki).

Mary is not a god, so why worship her? That's so stupid.

@dakotagerman1 Mary " Mother of God " is very special for Armenian church and all oriental orthodox churches. She is considered the mother of the church. Therefore every Armenian church has the icon of " Mary and Christ " on top of the main altar. It's better to search before making stupid comments!

Just because she was inseminated with the Christ child and bore him and (as the legend is, at least is the Roman Catholic version) "assumed" into heaven--which is, really, being beamed up doesn't make her "special" or a "mother" of the church.

If she's a "mother" then a woman named Ruth E. Norman (who is called "Spaceship Ruthie") is the Archangel Uriel that she claimed to be.

What IS! is this whole Mariolatry of the Armenian Church.
