I remember this documentary. I recorded it but lost the tape a long time ago.

@GORIZARD7 ok fair point

@mrwhippy101 Let me rephrase what I said...
King Kong was an American creation. Where Godzilla was created by the Japanese! Therefore by default making Godzilla the first Japanese movie monster! King Kong is not a Japanese creation, but an American creation. Godzilla is not the first movie monster but he is the first JAPANESE movie monster.
-
@GORIZARD7 yes but technically it was a monster movie it didnt hv anything to do with the american 1 making it a japanese version and it came before godzilla
-
@mrwhippy101 True but TECHNICALLY King Kong is American so it doesn't count. Godzilla still is the first Japanese monster.
-
@GORIZARD7 The lost king kong films that were made in japan before godzilla
-
@mrwhippy101 Who was the first Japanese monster if not Godzilla then?

In response to your claim that Japan "stole our ideas", I beg to differ. They were definitely INSPIRED by our monster films, yes, but they ADDED ideas to these films that hadn't been done before. Their monster was different from any American monster at that time--it breathed fire, it was invincible, it was mean spirited, etc. The film also was much darker in tone than the US monster flicks of that time. Their additions made Gojira stand out from the rest of the monster pack, making it unique
