A U.S. Department of Agriculture film featuring Laurel & Hardy in their only technicolor theatrical short, and which was considered lost until 1967. IMDB.com says this movie was from 1943, but other sources disagree. According to http://www.laurelandhardycentral.com/tree.htm "For many years, published sources stated that the film was made and distributed in 1943; [Richard] Bann's later research, however, determined that Laurel and Hardy's footage was filmed on November 29, 1941, eight days before the attack on Pearl Harbor. The purpose of the short was to promote all the wonderful products made from wood, which was easily adapted into a plea for wartime conservation when the film was assembled for distribution." The only other color film of the duo that exists is from some silent home movie footage from the 1940's and '50s, and a short clip from the long-lost 1930 movie "The Rogue Song", which can be found elsewhere on Youtube.
Reportedly shot at 20th Century Fox in early 1943 during a lunch hour while making the feature film "Jitterbugs". Filmed in Technicolor. Laurel & Hardy's only full color theatrical film (they appeared in a few segments of "The Rogue Song" in 1930, but that was two-color. There are also some coloe home movies available on youtube like L&H on stage during WW2; Stan and an ill Ollie in 1956; and Stan in his apartment (with the Oscar he just received) in the early 60s.
