fonik0peos, there is no reason to feel sorry for them ... they are treated like gold and extremely well taken care of. elephants in Thailand have been domesticated for 5000 years - their parents are not wild elephants - they come from generations of elephants living in situ. The Royal Elephant Kraal is all about treating these magificant animals with the utmost respect that they deserve and give them an extremely safe haven to spend the rest of their lives in.

The Kraal's breeding program has been recognised as the most successful in the world. The alarming trend is that Asian elephants are dying at a faster rate than they are breeding. The breeding program is imperative if the Asian elephant is to survive beyond the current generation.

the Elephantstay program at the Royal Elephant Kraal village is about taking care of old elephants. U get to look after & take care of your own old elephant & help these old girls enjoy their retirement. The bond you form so quickly with these amazing creatures is unbelievable. There are many sanctuaries in Thailand including ENP that do good things but there is no where else in Thailand that offers this type of amazing experience. read testimonials from former Elephantstayers from the website.

@fonik0peos Me too.
Asian elephants barely reproduce in captivity because captivity is traumatizing. Learn about their hell: phajaan
Be the change!

@Dele1219 - Do your research before you go around making false accusations and defamatory statements, Happy, healthy elephants breed a plenty at the Royal Elephant Kraal which is why they have been considered to be the best captive (natural) breeding program in the world. I can assure everyone that phajaan does not take place at the Kraal!! Again, do your research before you go around insinuating the Kraal does. Do-gooder ignorance actually does more harm than good!
