Well, Brother, what is "up" with it is, that is a common decoration in many protestant churches, and used to adorn the alter in our national convocations. The IHS is derived from the first three letters of the Greek name of Jesus, iota-eta-sigma or ΙΗΣ. Buth the letters put together like that "IHS" is sometimes interpreted as meaning Iesus Hominum Salvator ("Jesus, Savior of men", in Latin; then, sometimes it can be a "backronym" for I Have Suffered, or In His Service. Whew this is awesome. I don't know what has happened to COGIC I do not however submit that we need to go back. I feel that as we go forward we can not leave the ethical, prayerful, consecrated foundation on which this church was built.
