For more videos and information, visit: http://cookingupastory.com As Dan Imhoff explains in part 1 of this video— editor of the new (coffee table size) book CAFO, a large body of illuminating essays, and full spread pages of (full-throttled) images depicting a litany of inhumane livestock conditions and their effects—the toll of these CAFO operations upon local communities, public health, and the environment obliterates any supposed economic advantages of such a system. Only through large federal subsidies (in the Farm Bill), and by ignoring a range of hidden (or largely obscured) costs that are ultimately borne by the taxpayer and eater, can their existence be cost justified.

  • It seems like many of these commenters don't care about their food. Cheap is NOT better. When I was growing up we spent 1/4 of our income on food. Now, people want to spend 10%. I would rather rent my house or buy one with less room and eat good food instead--organic, field fed, humane ranchers and farmers. What is more important than what we put into our (and our children's) bodies? We need to think systemically and not just for today. Garbage in garbage out.

  • I was expecting Animals as leaders :(

  • @TheCat9991 You want to eat organic, field fed, humane ranchers and farmers? Sicko.

  • This issue is seriously bad and causes way too many problems with these god damn cafos! The way they treat the animes and the amount of hazzards made from this crap is despicable!

  • @baddogonline I am curious as to where the truth is in your opposing view? I don't see any logical arguments in your post. Unlike you I have actually lived near these operations and know the truth. Unlike you I have reviewed the studies that show the negative effects of this approach to industrial agriculture and find them worthy of concern. Personally I think you are probably just a troll.

  • wow. just prior to this video, i saw this Christian propaganda ad that linked to worldslastchance.

how dare youtube sell out to show a video 20 minutes long of exaggerated findings by a special interest group?

just today i praised youtube for housing so many instructional and well informed videos but i was let down by it.

  • @dewaynecurry I'm just sitting back, watching you Socialists spew your hate. When you finish the insults and name calling, I'll respond. It might be a while though, because you can't help yourselves; you all will have to go through the same old-cycle of maligning, and degradation before anyone is allowed to speak truth to you... Brain washed much? Soros and Alinsky would be proud. XD

  • @baddogonline Fools like you will continue to feed corporate greed. Don't worry, for every dollar you save on the front end you will pay 10 to a hospital later. The people who live near CAFOs want to be left alone and have their freedom from its pollution. The rest of us want the freedom to not have to subsidize your food choices (they all come from corn) or your medical bills later.

  • @mywootgarden Spell check much?
