@ohiojib och, thanks for replying, i was brought up with all that music from my dad, when i play it for my patient it gives me excuse to sing along with him.
@montyfcuk OMG I was surprised to get such a sweet story in response to mine...Yep, I'm crying...how nice that you bought him the cd and sing it with him...I cared for my parents for 11 years and understand the importance of attention and time spent with them..Inka dinka do must have been one of those songs lke our "don't worry be happy" songs...that the old timers feel uplifted with.Your patient is lucky to have you.
@ohiojib i am a nurse working in a nursing home, we have an elderly resident who always sings inka doo, i bought him the cd and it has brightened up his life, every time i go into his room to give him medication i play it for him and we sing it together, his face just light up
My Uncle, an 83 year old retired and disabled entertainer was in the same nursing home as my Dad. My Dad, one of his his greatest fans, was concerned about my Uncle's depression and had a great love for his little brother. So, every night, he had the nurse push him down the hall and he would go into the room singing inka dinka doo....and flashing Jimmy Durante ha cha cha looks...
. They have passed on... and yes, we sing a few bars of inka dinka doo when we are sad too.
