Our experimental balloon payload was launched from Livermore, CA and traveled approximately 50 miles to Modesto. The payload had 2 Canon Powershots, one for taking still shots and one for taking video. We tracked the balloon using a SPOT Tracker and followed it until it parachuted safely back to earth.

  • Our initial estimate is 60,000 feet, next time we'll probably go up to 100,000 feet by filling the balloon up with less helium.

  • That is sooo cooooool!

  • I didn't recognize any Stratofox faces in the group shot- are you aware there's an experienced team that often helps in balloon and rocket tracking & recovery?

  • Rad. Very cool. Any idea what the approximate altitude was?
