  • I found a site that said to do the "water test" and and to let the ones that floated germinate in sandwhich baggies of moist saw-dust in the bottom of my fridge for the winter, the next spring me and my son had about 12 out of 20 acorns that grew roots, thier still growing strong on my front porch.

  • Hi Travis, Thanks for these sessions. I have a friend sending me a couple dozen bur oak acorns. He is in South Central Wisconsin, I am in South East Michigan. Will I need to hold these over the winter in my refrigerator? I have some Shag Hickories already "stratifying" - I am wondering if the same is necessary for the bur oak acorns too? Winter time here near Flint I am afraid would kill them if I just stuck them in the ground.
