Ian Tomlinson, Musical Instruments Associate from Tukwila, Washington, started playing guitar because his father played and his grandfather used to make them. He likes the Gibson Les Paul Classic because its perfect for jazz and blues with its warm tone and vintage pickups even though he uses it a lot for an alt rock sound. He pairs it with the Bogner Alchemist tube amp because it has several settings and clean channels.

  • I feel the need to defend myself here because 1) I was really rushed in the video. No 2nd takes, no warning it was a film crew was coming, etc. 2) I know I'm an excellent player (I've played for ten years now, have given lessons for three) so hearing someone say I'm not good bugs me. I know I am. 3) Watching this video, I wouldn't buy gear from me either.

But seriously, the Alchemist is freaking sick. I own one now, and it screams. It's got that "crunch", and it does EVERYTHING! Ha ha ha.

  • Alright, let me clear some stuff up here. I'm the dude in the video. Didn't even know it was on Youtube. I'll have to use a couple posts.

A camera crew came into my store, told me to grab a guitar, amp, and pedal and "sell" it to them. I plugged everything in and turned up...they told me to turn down because the microphone was too sensitive. So you hear my strings over the amp. It pissed me off. 2nd, they said to act like I was selling to a beginner, hence the "beginner" terms.

  • I've formally asked Best Buy to remove this. Let's see if they actually do.

  • @5150VanAlien I won't argue with you there. I've gained a lot of knowledge since this video, and I didn't know everything about the guitar when we shot this.

  • @bluescrusher You've heard that? You have if you've seen Super Troopers, and it does not, in fact, sound like that.

  • @PinePicker87 I was just saying that I'm confident in my abilities as a musician, and this video doesn't represent me well.

  • The distortion sounds like a bear being but raped
