  • wish the full original series would be uploaded...I haven't seen it since 1976

  • @bowler8 Why dont you buy it from amazon?. Both series in one. Well worth it.

  • Finlay is 100 times better as an actor than Eve. Trevor Eve just scowls all the time, and he is 10 years too old to play the Peter Manson character. Manson should be around 48 years old, not 60.

  • @marcusantonius90 I think we're all agreed that the new one is a total waste of time/disaster.

  • One of, if not the best series ever on TV. Consumate acting, directing etc, and the plot/characterisation beyond watertight. Do yourselves a favour and get it on dvd. Watch it 50 times.. it just improves!

  • @martinjp1958 on aboot clownboz

  • Think, think & think again before you remake anything, even Pinky & Perky part 100. Especially Hollywood.

  • Why bother with a remake, just show the original again!

  • Frank Finlay is miles better than TV's Mr Shouty, Trevor Eve. The remake was dreadful and too afraid to hint properly at the incest. Just one look at Finlay watching Penhaligan walk away tells you it all-the mark of true acting

  • The remake is not a patch on the original! Poorly cast too!

    RIP James Aubrey

  • My favourite all time series. Brilliant cast, brilliant characters, so much conveyed just by a look. When I bought a DVD player this was the first DVD I went out and bought. I was really sad to read James Aubrey had recently died

There was no way the new series was ever going to match it but I didn't expect it to be quite so bad. There is no depth to any of the characters and it's hard to like any of them. they've even had to add extra bits to the storyline to keep your attention.
