Code Pink Boo's my National Anthem

I honestly don't get too offended very often, but this one kinda gets under my skin a little. On the one hand, sure I can see their point (I think it's a little ridiculous, but I'll concede that it IS a violent song. Like our revolutionary and 1812 wars were.)

Nevertheless, it's our National Anthem. You may not LIKE that it's our national anthem, but until all the people in the country who DO love the National Anthem all of a sudden STOP loving the National Anthem, it's going to be... our National Anthem.

I get that you're pissed off. I am too. I get that our country's been stolen - I agree. I agree that our country has acted in ways I can neither fully understand nor accept. And frankly, the reason I'm pissed off is because I LOVE MY COUNTRY. I love the ideals and how far we've strayed is outrageous to me.

Know what I'm sayin, Code Pink? So let me do my thing, and you do your thing, and together, we'll change the world.

But don't be booing me when I pour my heart out for my lost country singing that song. I sing the song in mourning for the losses and at the same time with pride for the opportunity to speak my mind freely to the world.

This is the problem with 'political correctness.' Being PC is fine when it's about not being truly offensive, but in this case it is being PC for its own sake.

Our national anthem isn't about us attacking another country. It's about our fort being attacked and an imprisoned American feeling hope when he sees evidence--that star-spangled banner--that we had survived. What a shame.
