Hi Uncle Rick- just wondered if the diaries of Sydney were truly complete. I had a copy of what Mom had typed up and it only covered a number of years, maybe ten at the most. The diaries covered roughly thirty years. I'm not sure she ever fully completed it before Beth acquired them and donated them to the historical society. If not, you should check with them. I found them truly fascinating. I loved reading about the day my mother was born or Pearl Harbor. Amazing.

It sounds like a very interesting project. When thinking of funding possibilities.....The Island Institute, Vinalhaven Historical Society (fund raising project), connecting with the school - possible grant funding ,documentary funding (Maine Public Television, local television, private films), National Geographic, Discovery, History Channel ........I wish you success & can't wait to read/see the finished product!
