@ktomek06 gar meat has the texture of chicken, not very flavorful but you do get a lot of meat out of one fish. Very lean as well

@rsuriyop im from south texas and you can fish for katan(alligator gar) in alot of places down here and man o man it makes very good eating the sad part is its only 1 a day limit

they are good to eat, although hard to skin, but its like all muscle, the only bony part really is the backbone, but if you skin it right, you'll have two huge stripes of meat that you can fillet or cut into steaks

Actually yes. Supposedly some people love them.
I just booked a guy from Missouri that fishes for gar exclusively for the meat.
