A look at planning overtakes when you have several vehicles in front. Plan each overtake, judging speed and distance. At all time be safe !

  • very smooth overtake nigel , gotta get a ride with you somtime now am back in uk

  • @pomplumber Forgot to ask, How are you down there....with all the fires, earth quakes etc.....

  • If you are going to post an advanced drive on YouTube, check there is no mistakes on it before posting. You obviously did not notice the crossroads,as you did not comment on the advance warning sign, poor observation that could of had potentially fatal consequencies if a car had pulled out from the road on the right, without looking left.....

  • Thanks for the comment. I am afraid if I check vry video post for mistakes, I would have none to post. The vids on Youtube are not to illustrate the 'perfect' rider, because there is not one. I can see where you are coming from, but the vids do generate the interest with feedback and riders do benefit from them.

    Regards

    Nigel

  • You gave this title, not the public, and as demo video it lets you down. I really think you ought to critically review these many videos before posting, I've bit my tongue until now but there are less experienced people than yourself out there who may take these as examples of something to aim for, rather than a level of competence to progress beyond. Why not use a clip from a better day out, then dub your commentary?

And now, just as you did, I have run out of space but mine's not fatal.

  • My friends and I were riding back through Loch Lomond in Scotland when we came across about 10 miles of slow moving (10mph) or stationary traffic, we were overtaking/filtering on the off side on a normal country roads through this traffic when we came across a Strathclyde Police Traffic car also caught in the traffic jam, I overtook aprox 15 mph filtering on their off side would this move be legal, Much like the roads you are on in this video.

  • Another great video Nigel - - I hate You Tube experts :-( Grrrrrr

As you pointed out there is NO such thing as the perfect rider.

I for one have been on rides and done things ...where I have sat down and thought that was silly or should have held back alittle more...

When these You Tube experts have the balls to upload videos of themselves maybe we can see how it should be done :-)

  • Zzzzzzzzzzz

  • As an Advanced Police Driver I find posting videos like this irresponsible. I agree nobody is perfect but the cross roads sign is clearly visible. There is no mention of the cross view which suggests he has missed the sign as he had tunnel vision when going for the overtake. Poor riding!

  • Hey Nigel apart from the mistake, that I hasten to add to all the experts, you got away with, this is a good example. I suspect that most of the people pointing out your mistake are the ones that complain about caravans spoiling their rides. I dare say that most of them would not have even got past the tanker.
