"So near and yet so far," as one passenger said. Yesterday we came from Manchester for a day's walk with some friends from E Yorks in the beautiful moorland north of Skipton. If the Skipton-Colne line was open it would have been practical to get there and back by train. As it was we drove, but that meant a tiring hour-and-a-half of driving each way, no opportunity for me to sample the local beer, and of course yet another car on the road.
