I openly carried my M1A Socom 16 rifle from the trailer to the storage unit. I do support the right to openly carry rifles, but typically, I discourage it. Its not the right time for that. The car wasnt running right, and the case was in the storage unit, and I didnt want to leave it in the trailer park.

Oakland County Sherriffs Department showed up, some jackass in a Cadillac decided to call the police for someone exercising thier second amendment rights.

This Sherriffs Department has always treated me well, I have dealt with them a few times on gun rights issues as well as other "normal" activities.

Give credit where it is due.

  • Quit answering his questions!!! If it is legal, quit giving him information that he COULD use to arrest you in some way.

  • @TheGrayman1234 There is a point to answer questions, and not to answer questions. Wash Rinse Repeat has its limits, you dont incriminate yourself, but you balance that with not coming off as a jerk. One thing you have to do while OC, is to open peoples minds to it.

I could have refused to answer his questions, but I was within the law, and you can see that I have a good relationship with the department, I would prefer to keep it that way.

  • @stainless1911 Coming off as a jerk is not illegal. Sorry but if it comes to making a cop mad and giving them info that they can hang me with, the cop will just have to get mad. Ask ANY lawyer.

It should not matter if you have a good relationship with the department or not, you were not breaking the law so they should have nothing to say about the matter.

  • @TheGrayman1234 When someone calls with a MWAG, they have a duty to respond. If you intend to keep your so called "rights", use some tact.

  • thank you for open carrying your gun and excercising your right to carry thank you. By the way I just made a video that is a tribute to all those who open carry in california enjoy : )

  • @007brendan007

Oakland, Michigan is an upscale city just outside of Detroit.

  • Oakland county police are hit or miss i have been pulled over by the same sheriff about 4 times and he always let me go because of my veterans license plate

  • @stainless1911 They have a duty to respond and (in my state) once they ID me, run my warrants (find out I have none) and see that I am doing NOTHING illegal they should leave. Sorry the right to bare arms is granted by the constitution and can not be taken away whether I use tack or not. The law is supposed to be blind and impartial. If an unprofessional officer wants to push the matter, then I will see him in court.
