I think it sounds fine during the season....NSU's pep band is mostly freshmen...specialy in the trumpet section...also during pep band season bands tend to loose their care for sound quality, cause pep band is just fun...I have never seen JSU in person so I wont comment on them, but I know for a fact the Legion is full across the board in person....and if you never heard them in person your missing out

This is why NSU's trumpets will never be able to compete with JSU's.... Their tone is thin and very sharp! I understand this is pep band and "off-season" so to speak, but they try to do this during the season, and it SUck... ... sorry about the capital "SU" in sucks, but they (Southern University) are the backbone of this word ! ...... good Day !
