I want to plate the bolt on one of my rifles. Would the gold plating withstand the heat and abuse?

@t3super60W The gold plating will definitely withstand the heat. As for abuse, most metal is susceptible to abrasion. Also the more the gold is handled the faster it will wear off. There are ways of protecting it with lacquers or something similar, but if the rifle is used a lot it will wear off in time. If it's rifle that isn't used often, a gold finish would look nice for a long time.

I'm very interested in plating, I have a lot of brass rings with gold & rhodium plating that have tarnished. Can I "replate" my jewelry with a plating pen? Thanks in advance.

@DJCRE8IVESTYLES Thanks for your inquiry. With jewelry the method of plating somewhat varies case by case. For tarnished metal, the surface has to be polished to a shiny finish or it will look bad. What ever the surface looks like before plating, will reflect the same finish after plating. If you can get the surface looking good, you certainly can replate your jewelry. I would however recommend our JewelMaster if you have a larger amount you need done. Brush plating jewelry takes more time.

People often wonder about gold content and how it relates to how much plating can be done with their solution. Coverage is detailed on the product info section for each of our solutions. For example, an 8 oz jar of 24K Brush Gold solution has enough gold to cover 1200 square inches to a typical decorative thickness!

@nickt916 We have had multiple requests as of recent for a zincate solution. We have began developing a solution and list of instructions to make Zincating accessible to our customers. Currently, i'm uncertain as to where you can get a zincate solution. We are in avidly developing a solution, and a consistently successful process this week.
