The Science of Doomsday 2012

NASA Scientist David Morrison discusses the rumors of a doomsday in December 2012 and shows how these claims are not supported by science. This updates Morrison's earlier videos "The Truth About 2012" and "The Truth about Nibiru". Another good discussion is in the JPL video "12-21-2012 Just Another Day".

1) I now intend to close down the comments section for this video. The so-called doomsday on Dec 21 did not happen, and the equally silly “three days of darkness” did not begin on Dec 22. This is exactly what I said in my videos, and what I and other scientists have been saying for years: these doomsday stories were a hoax intended to trap gullible people. There was never any truth in these rumors, even though a few people were still worried right up to midnight on Dec 21.

2) I am amazed at the many vulgar, illiterate, totally uninformed comments posted here. The less some people know, the more willing they are to post nonsense statements and criticize others. Many seemingly get information (misinformation) entirely from Internet and YT videos. Most amazing were claims to see Nibiru who wouldn't tell where it is so their observation can be verified. The excuses given for why it cannot be seen (like it doesn’t reflect light or is hiding behind the Sun) were absurd.

3) I realize that many of the silly statements posted are from trolls who know better but are trying to create confusion and frighten people. I am truly grateful for the watchdogs such as Bugbait, ThreeFangCat, and others who have consistently challenged these trolls with the scientific facts. Like me, their target audience has been the confused people, especially frightened children, who where truly worried about doomsday. If we have helped dispel some of their fears, we have succeeded.
