They should make a 3 minute call limit today , then we wouldnt see stupid people chatting away as they walk around supermarkets.

Steve Coogan must have studied Michael Rodd's mannerisms, way of speaking and hair very carefully before coming up with Alan Partridge.

It would have been really funny if he had checked his GPS, if 7 miles was being correct or not. And than even better if they 'd discussed her being wrong and his gps being accurate;)

I understand some of the humour concerning the, 'primitiveness', of the device being used. But, remember that, if it weren't for these devices being invented, you wouldn't have the mobile phones of today. Each invention and innovation is a small step towards what we have today, and that what we have today is also a step to better inventions in the future. So, laugh if you want, but the kids of tomorrow will be laughing at what you have now, in another 20 years' time.

@JFredUK Too right you are sir! It's all in good fun though :) I mean, yes, they WILL be taking the mick out of us in a few years...my kid does it to me now! He doesn't care that the internet wasn't around a few years before he was around!
Swings & roundabouts. . .

Some peole are so caught up in the modern times that they mock early technologie, so this was a big thing in its time. Of course you cant text stupid.. it wasn't invented yet. Can't someone for once see something for what it is. Instead of mocking it because it doesn't stand up to their parr. This was a BIG breakthrough when it was first introduced in the early 70's I think it was 1973 but not sure.

@aroseinthegarden I agree, but those are likely to be kids and like my own kid, i's hilarious to them, you have to allow them that, we did the same when we were growing up....!
You have to admit it IS still OK to laugh at a phone the size of a brick, even if it did allow us to then eventually have the phones we all know and use! I still love the story of inventions and appreciate the engineering and science that goes into it.
