Dump the H1C visa program that allows for the importation of slave labor and then there will be jobs available.

True, but @ least we can warn others coming in. Just had eye opening experience, talking to nurse manager @ Vassar Hosp Po'k NY where I have been applying/calling for > 1 year. She knows my husband as a pt in hosp & that is how I got to talk to her. She said they had 212 applications for this past bridge to practice, hired 10 from within & 2 from outside. She said my grades "not good enough" (3.5 GPA) & they are looking for 3.9 or 4.0. Used to be a "B". Also taking only BSN, no ASN.

@Tankweti: Could not agree more. Too bad we figure this out after we get our worthless degree that serves no purpose in any other setting.

@aaqaaqaaqaaqaaqaaqaa In NYS alone, I believe there are 25 nursing schools statewide. If you consider that they each graduate perhaps 50 students per semester, that is 100 students per year x 25 schools = 2,500 new nurses for NYS alone. If each hospital is only hiring 10 new grads per year (and nursing homes and homecare even less), we can see where the problem is. It is not rocket science. We are being duped and robbed by nursing schools, both BSN and AS degrees.

I wonder why RN schools are still spitting out 1000's of RN new grads when they know there will not be jobs for them.
