I just noticed the subtle use of pirate speak in the description.

Yes take your canvas bags to the supermarket, but please, as a grocery store bagger wash them, they're gross if u don't, full of germs from previous visits... oh, and dont use paper. that's just as bad as plastic...

I didn't realise that The Axis of Awesome mentions Tim's song in their 4 chords song!!

I reckon Tim is 'taking the piss', but I don't care - I loved it.

Actually we're both right.
I just watched the South Bank documentary and in Tim's own words, "...it's half a plea for people to not use plastic bags, and half mocking celebrities changing the world by putting their arms around people and swaying. It does both things at the time, and I won't be drawn on which one I'm actually doing".
Cheers!

Though, you really should use canvas bags more often.

Actually I tend to think that the message is real . . .Tim just loves the "Overblown Anthem" style. But rather than have a long, wordy, preachy song he gives a simple, concise message while still having a very silly production. But I admit I could be wrong.
