Kenwood DDX512

Just a quick rundown of my Kenwood DDX512 head unit.

You can see in this video one of the glitches, ever since I put video on teh ipod, the first time you go to LIST to browse music, it always shows video items under "artists" or "albums" .. simply going back to the root list and then selecting the category again will get it to list the category correctly.

so far there are a handful of bugs like that. It will stop updating the album art / artist / track information while playing from the ipod if you click track forward or backward too quickly. Also there is a setting on the playback screen for "2 line" or "4 line" display, and while it will remember which one I selected when listening to the radio, with the ipod every time I start the car it goes back to 2 line display. A few annoying glitches that hopefully will get fixed at some point with a software update, however for the most part its a really good deck. The ipod interface is very fast, as you can see... makes it easy to switch up music while driving, no matter what you are in the mood for.

I like your review but do you use the dual zone function. I put the unit in my truck to run monitors in the back and the set up is rediculous. I was hoping you played with this feature and can help me out.

I did a google search for "DDX512 firmware" and it was on the firstpage somewhere.. couldn't find it on kenwood's manually. *shrug*

Does your iPod artwork show up really low-res? Mine does and I can't figure out how to change it. It was fine until I switched my old iPod video to a new 160gb Classic.

Look on google, one of the wires in the iso connecter at the back has to be grounded.

You can select what you want to be the backup cam. Usually it's holding the NAV button for more than 2 seconds.

my guess would be when the car is put in Reverse it switches to the camera automatically.
