The LHCb experiment at CERN is part of the most ambitious scientific experiment ever attempted. The LHC is the Large Hadron Collider, the biggest particle accelerator ever built and the "b" stands for "beauty", the name of the quarks that the LHCb will try to find. Dr Tara Shears explains why this experiment is so important and what she and her colleagues at Liverpool University are contributing to the project. To learn more, visit www.labreporter.com

  • Nice video, good luck with your amazing work!

It doesn't look like "the cleanest place in the world". It is ordinary clean room with medium anti-contamination counter-measures. Semiconductor and processor manufacturers are using even cleaner environment.

  • The voiceover actually says it's "ONE" of the cleanest places in the world. Which is technically true.

  • Coolest thing in the world. Thanks for the great videos! These people, instead of entertainers, should be celebrities.

  • So, you find an infinite regress more coherent than a singularity? These are very deep questions, and nobody knows for sure - but surely that's no reason to throw away theories that have enormous explanatory power.

  • man i wonder how she would loo if she was younger, damn...she' pretty sexy for someone her age

  • I loved it when he said "the bit in the middle", made my day. Loving the complicated, professional sciencey speak.

  • I wish my physics teacher had been like Tara.

  • This doctor is amazing. I bet she is a good dancer, loves gourmet restaurants, enjoys good film, and loves to ski. Take me to her sweet fate and let me quark to her.

  • Ladies and Gentlemen, a retard!

  • She didn't say the room had to be completely dust free. Maybe, I'm just guessing, those protections are enough to guarantee less than 100p of dust per m^3 of air? It could be that the inconvenience of wearing goggles isn't worth being without those few more dust particles.

  • In your class100 clean room all the boffins are covered from head to foot in protective clothing, except for they're eyebrows!

I just scratched my eyebrow and lots of little white bits tumbled from them! and you guys are leaning right over the hardware, your hair is covered up, your nostrils but NOT your eyebrows!! Unbelievable!!

Shouldn't they be wearing goggles or a face nask!! naughty, naughty!

  • As science progresses, it will keep answering questions leaving less and less space for religion fundamentalism. Religion feeds on people's ignorance and that's why science and proper education are their biggest enemies.

  • "They must find it difficult those who take authority as the truth instead of truth as the authority" Gerald Massey.

Keep the great work guys it will be more than worth it!!
