@jrfire91 < Either way the engine was going the correct speed for his road. 20 turns and 80 red lights makes for a slow a steady ride. Our Engines can carry 2000 gal but we only keep around 500 gal in it so it's not so heavy on our equipment.

@tubesteakdynamo you have a great therory, but NO Allentown engine carries 2,ooo gallons. At most 1,ooo; so try taking 8,ooo lbs of water and the truck weighs about 17,ooo. So 17,ooo+8,ooo = 25,ooolbs. Not quite 48,ooolbs. But I do agree with you, SAFTEY should still be most important!

Things look slower the higher up you are and the bigger you are. Huge jets at the airport look to be going slow as they taxi but are really doing about 30 MPH sometimes 60 at larger Airports. That engine was hauling ass for all those traffic lights, + that thing is carrying 2000 gals of water. At 8 lbs/pg that's16,000 lbs, + 32,000 lbs of truck, A lot to stop id someone runs one of the 50 lights that they went through.
