Valerie talks about crop protection and how and why they use it on her farm. See how products are prepared and how the farmer applies them to the fields using GPS technology and other specialized equipment.

Over 70% of farms in Ontario have an Environmental Farm Plan and we have one here too. The Environmental Farm Plan is a program that really helps us to identify areas where we can improve the environmental health of our farm.

It's important to protect the crops on our farm from insects and diseases by using crop protection products. Farmers like me across Ontario are required to take a course that helps train us to to properly and safely use crop protection products.

We have to be recertified every five years. We are always learning new, safer, better ways to protect our crops. As a farm family, we live and we work on this farm and we take the issue of crop protection and our own health and safety very seriously.
