  • Check out George and Muddy in the almum "Lost Tapes". Recording was found after his death. Was recorded live at some funky juke joint somewhere. I am sure brown liquor was involved and rightfully so....It'

s at a time when harp was truly appreciated...especially by Muddy. LowCountry Joe

  • This is from his Tribute To Little Walter LP, and he's using a G tuned chromatic played in A and a D Marine Band played in A. This is a classic.

  • May thanks for posting this, a fine track from an album which I unfortunately overlooked when it was released in the late 1970s.

For those who don't know, the great George Smith was a major influence on bluesmen such as Rod Piazza, Kim Wilson, William Clarke and Carlos Alomar, amongst many others.

    Best wishes from th U.K.

  • Killer song - and made extra special with Otis Spann playing GREAT piano.

    Awesome harp/mic/amp tone.

  • @friedharper I believe he's switching between chromatic and diatonic. You can hear the change clearly at 2.56.

  • @maxe44 I believe it's a diatonic harmonica in G, played in third position (A) which makes it sound like a chromatic.

You can hear George Smith bending to E and C (0.46) and (3;28)

  • .ohhh my god!...what a killer... !!! thanx so much! xxx Peg@
