@MrSpliff2K9 are you sure? With 4 wheels in contact with the ground you have approaching twice the (rubber) surface area of traction. Less weight on the front due to weight transfer to the rear in acceleration, but still sufficient contact. Latest porsches are 4wd even though the engine is at the rear...

@Thoooooms 4x4 Is the best build you can get for a quick start. Let's say: 1/4 Mile. But when it starts getting longer (1/2) 4x4's start to lose pace.

Drag cars pretty much do a wheelie when the set off - hence 4wd is useless as there's no traction up front. Road cars don't hence you can get power down at the front as well.
-
@MrSpliff2K9 because power distributed across 4 wheels is less likely to spin up and lose traction than all the power going to 2.
-
@MrSpliff2K9 The only reason higher power (read: well over four digit horsepower) drag cars are rwd just due it being inherently making a drivetrain that'll take that much power/parasitic loss Its much easier to just tub out the car and add wheelie bars. You really can't understand the physics as to why a AWD car would launch harder out of the hole?
-
why do people beleive that 4WD means quicker launching??? the fastest cars for pulling away are RWD :S
-
@danielbum912 I thought I was the only one that saw it like that:)
-
the audis launch probably wasnt even THAT much better. just looked enormous from that angle/distance.

4WD's FTW

Audi and racing in same sentence ?!!?!?! Please
Looks like the Audi smelt the rubber.. Brit cars always do it better. Not saying the Audi is a bad car, because its very far from bad.. just prefer British cars.

Good launch, but the TVR over took it pretty quick.
