This was my favorite song through my teenage years when I was searching for the "girl of my dreams". I always thought that I'd sing this to THAT girl when she'd finally bless my life. Instead, the "girl of my dreams" came into my life and I never felt the need to sing it again, until now. That girl IS real and she IS blessing my life. She's blessed me with her love for thirteen years now and I can only see forever with her. I constantly tell my wife that I love her, several times each day. But, I don't hug her, or kiss her, or simply sit down with her to enjoy a warm conversation, nearly as much as she would like me to. The day's unrelenting activities distract me from my love. And, though she knows I love her so, and she waits patiently for any quality time with me, I need to give her more of me.
So, my love, you do everything for our family, for our children, and for me. I love listening to you tell your stories. I love taking a break and spending time with you in the kitchen. I love sitting down and eating my ice cream while you enjoy your bowl of cherries. I hope that you are noticing that I am making more time for us. I know that it is never enough. But, just as long as we both keep making the effort to spend more quality time with one another, we'll continue to strive for that love that keeps our lives growing and blossoming into the future we both seek, together.
From Wikipedia:
"Just the Way You Are" is a song by Billy Joel from his 1977 album The Stranger. It was Joel's first U.S. Top 10 (reaching #3) and UK Top 20 single, as well as Joel's first Gold single in the United States. "Just the Way You Are" won the 1978 Grammy Awards for Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
The song was written as a birthday gift to Joel's first wife, Elizabeth Weber. After they divorced, Joel said that when performing the song, he would imagine what he would eat for dinner or what he would do after the show, or even accidentally sing alternate lyrics written by Liberty DeVitto ("She took the dog, the house, the car").[citation needed]
Joel has gone on record stating that he personally dislikes the song and was originally going to leave it off the album. However, at the request of both, Linda Ronstadt and Phoebe Snow (both were recording in other studios in the same building at the time), Joel and producer Phil Ramone agreed to leave it on the album.
When "Just the Way You Are" was released as a single, it was shortened by over a minute. The differences are the removal of the second verse and an earlier fade. A live performance of the song was also used as a music video. On February 18, 1978, Billy Joel performed a shorter version of the song as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live (along with "Only the Good Die Young").

Why can't the music of today be exactly like the music of before, I mean I know each generation wants to be different but now a days it's just to the point of ridiculousness! Anyway, you really nailed this one gave it the emotion and sensitivity that ol Billy was known for giving this classic! The saxophone solo has always been my favorite part of this smooth, mellow tune!
