@Minimoogman No offense, but Vai was a fill in, the material was all written on Slip of the Tongue, they just needed someone to fill in for Vandenberg. And yes, David Coverdale had a big hand in Whitesnake's fame, I'm just saying Sykes pretty much took them to the top...then left.

When I saw a big painting of ships in the stormy sea at Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, this song came up in my mind.
John Sykes is one of the best guitarists/ songwriters of all time.
His contribution led mega hits of Whitesnake!

@EternalServantJPN If not for John Sykes, Whitesnake wouldn't have the classics like Cryin' in the Rain, Is This Love, Still of the Night, Bad Boys, Give Me All Your Love, or the revised version of Here I Go Again. You could say, John Sykes made them famous.
