According to BARRETT HIMSELF, the acid intake had very little to do with his breakdown. According to him it was emotional. He couldn't handle the pressure and didn't like the way that things were going. His family and many that genuinely knew him well, believe that he had Asperger's Syndrome, an emotional disorder. When Aspies are in emotionally trying situations they will crack, crumble, or freak out. I was engaged to one that looked, THOUGHT and ACTED just like Barrett in MANY ways.

The members and his friends said he smoked alot of dope and seemed more out of it when he was smoking.

If you actually do some research, like read testimony from people who witnessed the way Syd acted, there is overwhelming evidence that Syd's behavior was not typical of that of a person with Asperger's Sydrome.

It would be difficult in either state..a mental illness or over usage of drugs to feel organized talking to this interviewer. He is a far out there as Syd was then. I think he lends to dillusion. He was far from focused. What did he really want to know is missing.

Obviously, Syd had mental issues unrelated to LSD. LSD, however, has a very powerful effect on the mind and it's certainly reasonable to think that it had an exacerbating influence on his disorder, whatever it should be properly labeled. To suggest that he wasn't suffering from some mental disorder, though, is either delusion or propaganda.

These questions practically demand peculiar answers - especially since we don't really understand the relationship here in the first place. Syd sounds relaxed and not hysterical to come up with an answer to every question. On the other hand, I've been around acid and the people who consume this and long periods of silence as they try to formulate a sentence is common. IMO, this interview is only very slightly interesting and hardly revealing of anything at all.

Syd's acid consumption was not caused his breakdown. It was an emotional and mental condition that he suffered from. In other words his breakdown would have happened with or without the drugs!RIP Syd!
