Christmas Day. Saturday December 25 1971. After spending an entire day fooling around with my Christmas gifts, it was finally time for my favorite TV series to come on - 8:30 PM. I turned the channel to WNEW-TV Channel 5. My home in central New Jersey picked up all the New York TV stations, and this one was no exception. I adjusted the rabbit ears on my portable color TV set, and sat back. What movie would they show this day? The TV Guide listed no movie. Suddenly the announcers voice was heard. A SPECIAL holiday Creature Features was to be shown. What would it be? Suddenly, the opening credits appeared.

SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE MARTIANS? Were they kidding? No, they werent. Even at the age of 13 I knew this film was not up to the usual standard of films that Creature Features showed. Dejected, I went back upstairs to the sit by the Christmas tree.

Here I am, 38 years later, and in that time I have grown to appreciate the film for what it is an extremely low budget kiddie matinee movie. One of those So Bad Its Good films that I have grown to love. Who cant resist an 8 year old Pia Zadora as an incredibly dull Martian child? Or a guy in a really bad polar bear outfit? And what about the guy in a cardboard box pretending to be a robot? And call me crazy, but I actually think John Call is excellent as Santa!

So as an early Christmas gift to all the Monster Kids out there, I decided to try to re-create that Creature Features experience from long ago (a special thanks to Saturday8PM). There were no VCRs or DVRs back then, so this presentation is not entirely accurate. Im still working on the Creature Features intro, some of the TV commercials are from a later era (but still from the 1970s), but I hope you will forgive those flaws. Also YouTube now only allows videos to be 10 minutes or less, so I had to break it up into 11 parts. But for the Monster Kid who would like to re-live those halcyon days, sit back for the next hour and a half and enjoy -

CREATURE FEATURES SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE MARTIANS
(And to those of you who dont like the film - as a bad actor once said after being booed off the stage at a performance of Shakespeares Romeo And Juliet Hey, dont blame me I didnt write this sh*t!)
