ASUSTek is on the verge of releasing a graphic user interface (GUI) BIOS for all users of the P5Q motherboard series. The new type of BIOS called an Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI) makes the transition from an older keyboard driven environment to something so much more appealing and easier to use. At this stage it doesn't add any extra features except stylish good looks, but for those users who have been afraid of delving into the BIOS, now is your chance, especially if you feel comfortable in a Windows environment. You can monitor temperatures using color coded bars, and navigating with a mouse makes the BIOS much more user friendly and easy to use. Please leave your comments and any ideas you might have to further advance the EFI BIOS and we will relay them to the people involved with the this project.

  • I've always said A-SUS, not 'A-SOOS'

    Screw your ASOOS

  • @johnykgr then I suppose experience users don't need a GUI in Windows OS either....

  • so far uefi is a joke... it offers no functionality that wasn't available with the old BIOS.. and it tends to have problems recognizing keyboard/mouse... mine thinks i actually have 2 mice and one keyboard installed which makes navigating the menus close to impossible....

  • @johnykgr That's what people who used typewriters said when the first computers came out. Don't discount invention just because you're good at doing it the old fashioned way.

  • @TwiIightSparkle well if you dont know about bios you shouldnt mess with it.

  • @GOOB3000 im talking about bios which is used by less people, not windows which is used by everyone

  • @TwiIightSparkle If your computer breaks how would you even be able to access the BIOS?

  • @USOGPcom Not really, all text is boring. Besides, what games can you possibly play on text alone? Were there even 3D hardware acceleration at all?

  • EFI lets u install an OS on a primary hard drive of over 2TB an be recognized. BIOS limits u to 2.1 TB on primary boot HDD.

  • What the fuck happened to Windows XP...
