  • Why does to much weight slows the clock? Doesn't too much weight make your clock run faster?

  • @nafativedec - More weight tends to make the escape wheel teeth hit the pallets harder and therefore slows the momentum of the escape wheel moving. If you experiment with weight you will find more weight might speed up the clock initially, but then even more weight will slow it down. Its a fine balance.

  • Excellent. An interesting choice of wood. What wood did you use for the gears?

  • Thanks for the kind words. The wheels are just ply which have been painted with 6 coats of shellac then the teeth sanded to avoid any sticking.
