A ride on the reconstructed Virginia and Truckee Railroad, from Virginia City to Carson City, Nevada. This trip takes us over the brand-new track that was built as part of the reconstruction project.
The V&T was built in 1869 and abandoned in 1950. In 1976 Bob Gray relaunched the railroad in Virginia City, and by 1990 was running trains to Gold Hill. The State of Nevada built new track from Gold Hill to Carson City between 2005 and 2009.
Part 2 shows the ride from American Flat to Carson City.
its amazing they rebuilt this line, that would never happen in a million years in the uk,mind you most of our thousands of miles ofold trackbed have housing estates built on them now.
