- 41 registi internazionali vengono coinvolti in una sfida molto particolare: realizzare un cortometraggio con le tecniche di lavoro che c'erano alla data dell'invenzione del cinematografo, nel 1895. Ecco cosa hanno realizzato potendo utilizzare solo tre sequenze, ciascuna al di sotto dei 52 secondi e girando il sonoro in presa diretta.

- Lumière and Company (1995, original title "Lumière et Cie") was a collaboration between 41 international film directors in which each made a short film using the original Cinématographe camera invented by the Lumière brothers.
Shorts were edited in-camera and abided by three rules:
1. A short may be no longer than 52 seconds
2. No synchronized sound
3. No more than three takes

So very beautiful and elegant, embracing with hand painted color the possibilities of so many frames one after another. Painting in time. This film is my favorite on the Lumiere and Co. films. So sad I'll never meet Alain Corneau to tell him as he passed away yesterday.

would've loved some modern dance moves for contrast, like Leconte did with his not-stopping train in the station.
