Release Date: November 2, 2010 (NA & Latin America)

Gran Turismo 5 is to be the fifth edition of the highly acclaimed Gran Turismo racing video game series, scheduled for release in 2010. It is currently under development by Polyphony Digital and is to be published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation 3. It expands on the Prologue version and will be the first of the main numbered series to feature on the PlayStation 3.

For the first time in the main series, an online mode will be available in the game, with 16 player capability. Both mechanical and external damage have been confirmed, along with interior damage for 170 "special" cars. Night racing will make a reappearance for GT5, with every course having the option for night racing. Weather effects are also confirmed to be included, although the extent of the implementation is currently unknown.

World Rally Championship, NASCAR, and Super GT licenses will be featured for the first time in the Gran Turismo franchise

  • @ sirraf2 the press will rave while they're having the champagne.

    They could be Mormons ...?

Real TV looks very much like my computer sim,esp cabin views, & yes, the sound often does artificial in sims, but it is normally an sound clip from the real thing .

    Jp

  • @GT1amuse22k u ppl have no idea way ur talking about, ive been in a nascar cause i live near daytona, and it sounds like that, so does my frens bmw m3 and my dads mini van!

  • @matey27 dude you dont sense speed by seeing it, you sense it by feeling it! you cant feel speed coming out of ur tv, thats impossible, all EA does is make your car look like a jet and add blurs all over the place, thats not realistic cause in real live der are no blurs unless ur blind! meaning GT does not need any of that cause its a sim.

  • @DarkCrono100 amazing!!

  • @DarkCrono100 Also when you're talking about multi-million industries and awards before a game has even been released you really have to ask if the award has been given on merit or because the person giving it has had a lovely slap up lunch, free champagne and first class flights there and back.

Lets wait until it's released (if ever) and see how it compares to contemporary games. I have no doubt the press will rave while they're having the champagne.

  • @DarkCrono100 Sorry but it's just not as good as it's made out to be. It may be impressive when you first look at it or look at the menu shots/etc but the actual game graphics are nothing special.

The top gear track is set out well but again it isn't shockingly great as some would have you believe and no - I wouldn't think it was real at any point.

  • "poor at best", dude, what? have you ever actually seen GT5 in a video with good quality? there's no racing game out currently that looks even remotely close to as good as GT5 in terms of graphics. watch an HD version of the trailer with the stig and the top gear track and tell me it doesn't look 100% life-like at some parts.in fact, GT5 got awarded for best graphics of E3 2010, competing with names such as Crysis 2 and Killzone 3. if that doesn't tell you something, nothing will.

  • Come on. It's no better than a whole load of other car games that have been about for ages. It doesn't sound like it's real, the graphics for drivers gloves/etc are ok but the outside are poor at best and the whole thing looks very little different to others.

Why don't they just release it then get on wih developing the next one?

  • @GT1amuse22k Well he's right. A racing car doesn't sound so weak in real life. There's not a lot of racing games out there that made satisfying race car sounds. The best ones so far were the EA F1 games and that's pretty much it.

  • @mockngbrdy lol its the transmission and dif wine, thats whats making the sound, very realistic
