So my poor air plants are looking kind of sad. Do you have any suggestions?

  • hey is your other one still alive? Aside from soaking, you can fully drench the plant under a running faucet. Make sure there is sun light and air circulation to dry the plant so it won't rot. Do you have a FB page also? There is a page on there called air plant city that sells air plants and gives off GREAT info. There profile pic is green and the plants are mostly 3 bucks and they have free competitions to win plants! It's cool

  • @fishyboy0921 Thanks for the info!

  • So update. The purple one turned completely brown and I think it's dead :[

  • Air plant care is solely dependent on the environment they live in. Also, air plants are monocarpic, one they flower, they die. Most, however, will produce pups. These pups can be pulled from the plant (mother plant) once they are about a 1/3 the size of the mother. Air plants are a very hardy genus of bromeliads. They can survive severe neglect for long periods of time. However, this neglect will put the plant in a dormant state and it will not grow or flower. What is your environment like?

  • They both should be tillandsia stricta hybrids....

  • check out what i did with mine, keywords levitating plant

  • I say a plant is a pet I love cacti

  • hi u need to live it just like that the flowers when they get dry they grow thw seeds

  • @ChristinaR5 Oh.... nobody told me that.... :[ Thank you!

  • How long do u soak yours? I just ought one and soaked it for twenty minutes or so... But on a regular basis... Hmmm... :) cute video too. :) sorry I can't help. :/

  • The dried leave at the bottom of the plants are normal. You can pull them out, sideways. It won't affect the plant at all. Sometimes even by pulling the dead leaves, it encourages the rooting of the plants.

Tillandsias' flower are relatively fragile compared to other bromeliads. Their flowers last relatively shorter than other bromeliads too.

Tillandsias, are better kept outdoor, in a very bright area where they can get the dew in morning. Feed them with light fish & seaweed fertilisers.
