Skydiving 101- How not to do your first jump

Breaking every rule, my buddy takes me for my first skydive without proper instruction (not a tandem). I advise against it, but we both lived and it was a blast.

Uh Jimbo, that is what we call an uneventful jump. I remember my beginning skydiving days.

It was about my 3rd or 4th jump that I became aware of Newton's law which says for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. When you go to pull your ripcord, you are supposed to move your other hand and arm over your head. I found out what happens if you don't. I went for the ripcord, forgot to move my arm and immediately went into a spin. I still deployed the chute and things worked out.

If it had been more eventful, I might not be around to tell the tale. What it was was world class dumb.

I dont comment on vids but, you paint amazing pics with words. You made me smile. I am a just a A licence skydiver but I think with that kind of explanation I would have been more cofortable on my first solo, AFF. sounds like you guys had a blast. thanks for the vid!

This sounds a lot like my first skydive. A lot like it... hahaha. Pretty much the exact same thing. Except I was 18 at the time.
