I'm not sure if some of you anti-Apple people know this, but this video was actually produced by an in-house marketing team at Microsoft, to show off this exact problem at their company. It wasn't produced by some "fanboys".

Its good that even the people at Microsoft saw that their packaging wasn't very appealing.

People are saying "Well you don't buy a $100-$1000 device on packaging"

That is true: But what about Microsoft's products such as mouse and keyboard? How people buy those kinds of products does matter.

Recent packaging on Microsoft products (such as the Surface) show a much cleaner look. Sometimes minimalism does stand out. It doesn't need to be Apple but they can do without the clutter.
