A 1997 Outdoor Moovies interview with the owner of US-23 Twin Drive-In Theater, Lou Warrington. Lou proudly operated this fantastic outdoor theater his father built for 54 years, until his untimely passing in February, 2009. Video is copyright © 1997-2009 Outdoor Moovies/Darryl Burgess.

  • It was very sad to see the screen burn down, especially because it was torched by idiot criminal arsonists! I'm hoping they spend a lot of time in prison. The old screen tower was a good example of the classic drive ins, not just a screen mounted on poles. The neon lights must've really been nice. The US 23 is too far away for me to visit. I didn't knoe Lou but I send my deepest sympathy to his family. Nice tribute!

  • The US23 has a new lease on life, it's been leased for five years. The new management plans lots of renovations and adding two more screens.

  • Glad to hear the US 23 has a new lease on life.

  • The ad for the opening of the US 23 was a nice touch. The three teenagers who torched the old screen tower should be waterboarded, drawn and quartered, and then slowly decapitated. Very, very sad. I liked Mr. Warrington's comments about the screen from the DORT drive in. Very sad that he passed away, my sympathy to his family.

  • It was such an honor and joy to speak, on the record, with Mr. Warrington and this clip serves as a lasting tribute to him. OUTDOOR MOOVIES plans to return to the US 23 and the currently abandoned MIRACLE TWIN in the fiorst of what we hope to be many direct = to = You Tube effort.

  • Hope to go there soon! Phil? Are you reading this? Make it so!

  • The third screen was constructed using used shipping containers stacked together. It's located on the northwest corner of the field. You can see the photos on the US 23 Drive-in's Facebook page.

  • Me too. Cool site, michigandriveins!

  • I've checked out the michigandriveins site and it is very detailed and as you say entertaining.

  • Best wishes to the Warrington family. Thank you michigan drive ins for all the up to date information on your very detailed and enjoyable site. Others would enjoy it too, I'm sure of it. I don't know how run down the marque was but it's nice to know it is getting a face lift. Nice video. The detailed info at your web site was appreciated.
