The X Window System is a magnificent platform for many uses, but using it to run an application over a slow network is nearly impossible. This is an introduction to NX, a technology that makes remote applications fly even over commodity internet.

  • cool tutorial vid. it helped me quite faster to get it working, than all text how to's before.

  • They have a deb file now :D

  • Why does this comment have a negative rating? C'mon guys..

  • NoMachine is really onto something here with NX! It is a great product! NoMachine's NX is worth the low cost compared to the free NX because of all the great support and tools that come along with it! Compared to their competitors, the supported version of NX is not that expensive. Free NX has the code for an old version of NX, but isn't advancing as fast as NoMachine NX. They really move on what their customers need!

  • I suspect Shawn tries to target people who are new to Linux, this is evident by his personable on screen manner.

There are lots of online resources that host in-dept technical Linux videos however there are few people on the net who take the time to make informative, simple and user friendly videos while taking care not to be patronising.

Linux will become more popular if more people with Shawn's approach to tutorials make videos.

Good video but it is out of place on this channel.

  • this is awesome I was looking for stuff like this

  • Shawn is still here! Go to linuxjournaldotcomslashvideo :)

  • shawn will be back. if this video wasn't interesting to you, don't watch it. this channel is called LINUX journal, and although i also love shawn's humor, it needs to have these serious videos for more serious linux users.

  • Hey, what happened to Shawn? I'm not smart enough to understand this video. LOL

  • This tutorial is good for people are interested in remote computing however this channel appeals to more people as a result of Shawn's casual and more whimsical delivery.

Please consider dedicating this channel to videos presented by Shaun only.

The more technical in-depth and dry videos should be posted on a separate channel to target a different audience other than the majority of viewers who enjoy Shawn's tutorials.
